General FAQ’s

Where are you?

Can I book online?
Yes. click the Book Now button at the top of the page.

Do you have WiFi?
Yes, it’s available at the Leisure Club free of charge. You can purchase it through Leisure Connect via your phone/laptop.

What times are the shop and office open?
Summer hours: it varies; winter hours: 9am to 5pm. Please check our Facebook page or ring 01557 870267 for clarification.

What are the pitches like?
Most pitches are a mix of grass and hard stand, with electric or electric and TV hook up. Freeview channels are available. We have fully service pitches (grass/hardcore pitch with electric and TV hook-up, tap and drain). We also have grass pitches, and the tent area has some picnic benches to share.

I’ve hired holiday accommodation, what do I need to bring?
Bring towels and tea towels, new holiday wardrobe and best holiday joie de vivre. We provide the bed linen. You can hire travel cots and high chairs for a charge but please let us know when you are placing your booking. (See Self Catering accommodation FAQs)

Are there irons and ironing boards in the holiday homes?
No, however irons and ironing boards can be found in the laundrettes.

Do I have to book for a week or can I come for a mini break?
Both are great with us. Weekly lets are Saturday to Saturday. Mini breaks are Friday to Monday, Monday to Friday. Low season breaks have to be two nights at least.

What happens if I’m going to be late?
Please contact us to let us know. If you’ve hired accommodation, we will leave instructions at reception on how to pick up your key. Tourers and tents will find a map at reception door directing you to your pitch. If you’re arriving on spec after hours, there’s an electric hook-up in the car park and if you’re camping, please follow directions (on reception door) to the camping field and we’ll catch up with you in the morning. Can I bring my pet?
Yes, do. There are great walks, including of course, the beach, but please keep Fido on a lead in the park and remember to always keep a poo bag handy!

Is there mobile reception?
Not really, you’re off the beaten track but there are patches in higher areas where O2/Tesco are best.

What is there for the kids to do?
We have our own sandy beach, heated indoor swimming pool and toddlers pool, pony trekking (seasonal), pump track and bike trail. Why not try our family putting green, outdoor children’s play areas and amusement room.  For a relaxing time learn about nature on our self-guided walks or enjoy a glass of juice and a cake in the Leisure Club.

For our bike enthusiasts there are mountain bike trails and a pump track to test your skills on. But please remember to bring your helmet along with your bike. We have an all-tide slipway for launching boats and canoes, please inform reception if you are wanting to use the slipway.

The popular Cream o’ Galloway about eight miles away which has award-winning ice cream. The Cocoabean Company’s Chocolate Factory, is about eight miles away at Twynholm where kids make and decorate chocolate slabs, marshmallow treats and shaky shape animals to take home. Here also are indoor and outdoor play areas, activities, cafe and shop.

What time can I check-in?
Tourers and campers are welcome anytime after 1pm; holiday homes and lodges check-in is from 4:30pm

Where is the nearest bank?
Kirkcudbright (six miles)

Is there public transport available from the park?

What are your showers like?
In a word, great. Hot and powerful. Some are ensuite unisex and they’re all free.

Can we have a barbecue?
Yes but please not directly on the grass, decking or picnic benches and please barbecue with consideration for your holidaying neighbours

Is the site accessible for all?
The Leisure Club (excluding the swimming pool) is accessible as is the reception, licenced shop and we have wheelchair accessible en-suite shower room (please bring your radar key for access).

Unhappy with your pitch?
Come to reception and we’ll do our best to find you another you love

Can’t work the boiler? Don’t know how the telly works? Power’s gone off? Any other problem?
Please come in and tell us asap and we’ll sort it as soon as we can. (Please remember too you’re holidaying off the beaten track in rural Scotland and sometimes our suppliers can’t get things on a Sunday)

Where do I book activities?
Reception or Leisure Club, depending on what you want to do

Are the facilities and activities available all year round?
Swimming, café, lounge bar and jacuzzi opening is restricted in winter. Licenced shop and family putting green are available all year round. Ring us to check Leisure Club winter opening times on 01557 870 267.

When is the leisure club open?
Summer times are 9am till 11pm, winter times vary and we close the Club for maintenance for the month of January. Check with us on 01557 870409 or 01557 870267

Where is a good place to walk my dog?
Any of our signposted walks: the wood alongside the sea, the coastal path or the longer fenced rural walks

Can I take my dog to the Leisure Club?
We love dogs and welcome them in our refurbished Cafe and outside at our picnic tables.

Can I have my birthday party at the Leisure Club?
Yes, but not during the really busy holiday times. We love parties. Ask us on 01557 870409

Mad keen golfer?
We have ‘golf days’ for visiting clubs or groups which includes coffee when you arrive, lunch and a morning and afternoon’s golfing. We also do multi-day golf breaks with accommodation and meals included. And we arrange golf tours to other nearby courses. Please see *golf website* or ring the Leisure Club on 01557 870409.

Love wildlife?
We have five signposted nature walks with interpretation boards. Ask Reception for a copy of the map.
